Romantic and Alt-Romantic Things To Do
If you think Bangkok isn’t part of your “cities of romance” to visit, we’re here to show you otherwise. There are numerous hidden gems of fun and romantic activities you can do in the energetic Thai capital. From extravagant dinners to adventurous day-trips, there are various ways you can spend quality time with your partner.

Vertigo and Moon Bar

CRU Champagne Bar
If you’re looking for sky-high dinners, Vertigo and Moon Bar at Banyan Tree, located 61 floors above ground, has a great view of the city, coupled with an al fresco dining experience with fork-tender seafood, premium steaks and exceptional drinks. CRU Champagne Bar and Octave are recommended for a more laid-back atmosphere, where Sirocco is another exquisite place if you prefer river views.
Sala Rattanakosin
Sunsets and twilight hours can also be enjoyed to the fullest, especially by the Chao Phraya River. There’s endless cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. For some fine dining, Sala Rattanakosin offers great views of Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). For something simpler, Samsara offers great affordable Thai meals. Yodpiman River Walk is brimming with cafes to appreciate some good coffee and pastry as the sun goes down.
Samsara Café & Meal
For those who want something a little more outgoing, head out to Bang Krachao, dubbed as the city’s green lungs. With it’s lush greenery just a few minutes’ drive from the city center and accessible by metro, it can be enjoyed with guided bike tours to soak up the scenery through the pathways, jungles, canals and eccentric local villages. A picnic in the park is a good way to top it off!
JAM Café BKK
A typical date would end up in a soulless mall movie theatre - but it doesn’t have to be. Upgrade that date to alternative places to watch flicks with snacks on the cheap, in addition to quirky interiors. Jam Cafe with an artsy deco in Surasak offers obscure, weird and unusual titles. Friese-Greene Club has a theme for each recurring night with a bar and lounge set up across three floors. Other places include Cinema Winehouse and Bangkok Screening Room.

Cinema Winehouse

The Peninsula Bangkok
Take a vacation within a vacation at various hotels where they offer day-packages that include breakfast, spas, afternoon tea, and dinners. Notable hotels include the Mandarin Oriental and the Peninsula, 5-star period hotels which have retained their charm, or the more modern Carlton. Another great addition would be to cruise down the river, with packages organized by Supanniga for cocktail cruises, or luxurious dining with Aspara.
