Romance with Culture

There are various environments for romantic activities in the incredibly busy city of Tokyo. Whether you want to wind down and relax or go to classic rooftop dinners, Tokyo offers it

all - also including quirky excursions to things customized to Tokyo.

Start simple and head over to Ueno Park for a picnic of a lifetime. With plenty of spots to sit under a tree and enjoy the cool breeze, amazing scenery, the lull of people and the chirping of birds, you can let the day pass you by, lost in your own little bubble. There are also boats for rent at the Shinobazu Pond (rowboats, cycling boats, and swan boats) if you want to engage in something a little more active. Go during the treat - you’ll never forget the feeling of being under falling cherry blossom petals.

Maintaining the tranquil mood, go back in time at Yamamoto-tei. A former wealthy industrialist’s residence, it is a perfect example of sukiya, the popular architecture style around the 1800-1900s, which combines Western and Japanese architecture. The wooden two-storey structure has an attached tea house, and an emphasized spectacular garden. The best way to enjoy the place is to spend quality time with your partner inside the house on the tatami-cladded floor, relax and have some tea, along with matcha and wagashi (a Japanese sweet) and marvel over the intricacies of Japanese architecture and nature together.

Pumping up the beat, spend a day at Odaiba, a popular entertainment and shopping area with futuristic-looking shops and leisure spots. You can do a ton of weird, quirky, Japan-only things, and laugh away with your partner.

Start the day off at DECKS Tokyo, which sells niche Japanese items, and pay a visit to the Trick Eye Museum and Takoyaki Museum. At the height of summer,

Head to the Beach Park and chill on the shores, or soak yourself at the Oedo Onsen Monogatari, an indoor hot spring amusement facility inspired by the Edo era. At night, hop atop the Palette Town Ferris Wheel, a large, rainbow ferris wheel sure to take your breaths away. View the iconic Rainbow Bridge and bathe under its vibrant illuminations for an even more intimate atmosphere. You’ll have a great day out with your partner, filled with various entertaining memories.

No romantic trip is complete without standing a few hundred meters above the city, and enjoying the panoramic views offered - even better with good food! Roppongi offers a plethora of luxurious rooftop restaurants and bars, but if you’re looking for something a little lighter on the pockets and more than just a dinner, head over to Roppongi Hills. It is a museum, art gallery, and observatory with an outdoor sky deck (with stunning lighting at night), sky bar and cafe/restaurant, all in one. Spend the day giggling and commenting on exhibits, and top it off with 360° views of the city, being enamoured and enraptured by the magic with your significant other.
